Day 2 of 2
An “X” is fitting for many life events: The arrival of a baby (an X chromosome), the Roman numeral X for a tenth birthday or anniversary, or — in contrast —the end of a marriage. The design features a transparency effect and the optional pieced binding provides ‘serifs’ to the typeface. Moving away from traditional quilt blocks in a grid setting, Everyone’s Got an X uses negative space, large piecing, unconventional angles and a pieced binding to explore ideas in modern quilting for the intermediate to advanced quilter. The workshop includes discussion around transparency and colour, as well as introduces digital tools to inform colour choice.
