Day 2 of 3
In this workshop students will learn a variety of unique techniques with glass powder for both sculptural and functional work. These techniques require only small amounts of glass and can be achieved in the smallest size kilns. This allows for accessibility for artists working in a variety of mediums. Knowledge of glass is helpful but not imperative. The advanced glass artist will appreciate the unique process and the novice will discover a new medium to possibly incorporate into their practice. Students will create a series of sculptural glass feathers and leaves and a small multi-layer landscape using unique yet readily available tools. Instruction and hands on practice with vitrigraph techniques will be incorporated into each project. In addition to techniques, discussion will focus on presentation options and detailed firing schedules.
